It's almost time again, autumn may seem a long way off, but it's time to start thinking about the upcoming indoor season. The indoor season starts on Monday 9 October 2023 and ends on Sunday 7 April 2024. You can find the form for booking an indoor fixed court (in German) in the attachment. The registration deadline is 20 August 2023.

Champion von morgen
„Champion von morgen“ - club championship for juniors 2023
Are you a junior? Then please remember that the 2023 Club Championship for juniors will be held on the two Saturdays and Sundays of 19/20/26 and 27 August.
If you don't have a licence, you can of course still take part. The fun factor and enjoyment, as well as the desire to compete with others, are in the foreground - the result is secondary. You will meet new juniors and perhaps make a friend or two.
In addition, the junior club champions will each receive two tickets for Wednesday, 25 October of the main tournament of the Swiss Indoors 2023! Isn't that great?
Register now, preferably via e-mail to andreas.stojanovic@bluewin.ch or via MyTennis-Login on Swiss Tennis with the tournament number 140604. The registration deadline is 13 August 2023. You can find more details in the attachment "Champion von morgen 2023".

Group chat
WhatsApp group chat for members
The player search chats in WhatsApp are used actively. A new chat for seniors (over 65) has also been set up. Unfortunately, it happens from time to time that a person is absent from a fixed senior group due to injury. In the chat for seniors over 65, it may be possible to find a replacement. So if you are of retirement age (playing strength is irrelevant) and would like to stand in and meet new club members, then you are welcome to register on the homepage in the player search.

Double bookings
Double bookings on GotCourts / Sheriffs
It happens again and again that one and the same person makes two bookings at the same time. There are many reasons for this, e.g. the weather is unpredictable and you want to secure a place in the hall at the same time, or your colleague has used up all the active bookings and by making a "double booking" you secure him the booking slot. This is not fair to others and is expressly "not allowed". The rule is: one booking at a time for one person. If we discover any infringement, we will delete the bookings without comment.
We will also reintroduce sheriffs in the future to check compliance with the pitch rules and booking regulations.

Drinks and snacks vending machine
Drinks and snacks vending machine in the restaurant vestibule
Since a few days, two vending machines for drinks and sandwiches have been put into operation in the vestibule of the restaurant. For security reasons, the purchase of goods from both vending machines is only possible with credit card payment (no payment with cash). The sale of alcoholic beverages is not offered. In addition to water, various sweet drinks and snacks are available (see pictures). The two vending machines are located in the lobby of the restaurant and are open from Monday to Sunday from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm.

Restaurant: extended opening hours
Since June, the restaurant has been open again on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the evening until 10 pm. Currently only drinks are offered, a reduced menu is under discussion. As is customary during the summer holidays, the restaurant will be closed from Monday 17 July to Friday 11 August.
However, the Kids Tennis Camp will be catered for.

TWINT payments
Payments via TWINT
For a few weeks now, various payments can also be made via TWINT. This makes administration easier for us because it makes many an invoice and the associated administration obsolete. Unfortunately, GotCourts has not yet provided this payment option. We have already successfully used this option for the tournament fee at the Whitsun tournament and you can now also pay your invoices via TWINT along with other options.

Active ladies' team
Active women's team searching for players
We did not enter an "Active" ladies team in the Interclub this year. That's a pitty considering how many tennis-loving, talented ladies we have in the club. I have made it my mission to change that. It is a matter of concern to me that we enable continuity from the juniors to the adults, juniors who are ranked better than R4 can no longer play at the junior interclub. We will lose these players if we do not give them an option. This interclub season, for example, Pablo, 15, R4 had played very successfully in one of the active men's teams. Please contact info@tcnovartis.ch with the keyword "active women's team" if you can imagine playing in an active women's team next year. If you don't have a licence yet, you can get one for free from Swisstennis for this year.

Novartis Whitsun cup 2023
The 51st edition of the Novartis Whitsun cup could be held from 22 to 29 May 2023. A total of 102 male and female players registered. Last year there were 83 registrations - so this year's number of participants is about the same as in the years before the pandemic. We were lucky with the weather, apart from a few rain showers. Almost all matches could be played on the outdoor courts, only a few games took place indoors. Three women's categories and nine men's categories were played. During eight days of play, 24 women (aged 33 to 67) and 78 men (37 to 86) were in action. The tournament is popular and many come back every year. Many thanks to all the helpers and the tournament director Pascal Scholler!
Next year Whitsun is earlier than this year, i.e. in 2024 it falls on 19 May, so the tournament starts on 11 May 2024 and ends as usual on Whit Monday, 20 May 2024.

Did you know that? Junior membership rate for young people in training
Juniors who are pursuing an education after reaching the age of majority and who live in the same household as their parents or legal guardians may benefit from the junior rate. The condition is that a corresponding confirmation of education is submitted to Brigitte Wullschleger - responsible for member administration - every year. The confirmation from the school/university/etc. must be submitted by mid-November at the latest. The junior member rate can be granted until the age of 25 at the latest.
