Junior taster day
Well, how was the taster day?
On Sunday, 8 September 2024, a tennis taster day for children and young people took place at our facility. The courts were fully booked in no time at all. Around 30 children and their parents were invited to experience tennis. The activities were led by three coaches from the Kaufmann & Plüss tennis school. They were actively supported by a few active players from our active teams. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who helped to make the day a wonderful experience.
It was great to see the enthusiasm with which the children took part in the fun and games. The juniors then got down to some serious tennis and it was impressive to see the talent that lies dormant among our members.
The taster day was the start of an extended programme for children and juniors, which we want to launch together with our tennis school in 2025. In the coming winter, junior (group) training sessions will be offered as usual. Registration forms for this are available on the website Registration form click here (register first otherwise you will get error 404) or directly from our tennis coaches ivan@tskp.ch from the Kaufmann & Plüss school.
Andrew Wilson (coaching@tcnovartis.ch) is available to answer any questions about youth sport.

Ball machine
Things to know about the ball machine
The ball machine continues to enjoy great popularity and is actively used. However, many people have played with the ball machine without paying for it. Unfortunately, the ball machine is repeatedly used improperly, which leads to a lot of repairs. There are many extremely worn balls in the collection tray that have been subjected to severe bruising. Balls are also repeatedly removed from the tray and sometimes replaced with other cheap balls. However, the ball machine should only be loaded with unpressurised balls. Replacing these, the lack of rental income and the repairs lead to high operating costs and a lot of extra work for the board, which we can no longer provide.
The following changes will therefore be made from the winter season onwards:
The ball machine may now only be used in the hall (courts A, B and C) (protection against being pushed around on wobbly paths, protection against moisture).
The hire fee is now CHF 10.00 per hour, the same as the guest fee. When hiring, you still have to make a double booking (book court with ball machine and then ‘ball machine’ as well as reserve the court in a separate booking) as described in the instructions for use.
Booking 1: Book court with ball machine as partner.
Booking 2: Book the ‘Ball machine’ court (field below the indoor courts).
This is the only way to ensure that the ball machine is the only person booked. This may sound a little confusing

Scouting Event 2024
A scouting event will be held at TC Novartis Basel on 19 October
The next interclub season 2025 is just around the corner and we want to prepare for it in good time so that we have strong teams for the new season. On the one hand, we want to close the gaps in the teams and, on the other hand, register at least one team in the respective age groups so that all our members have a suitable team in which they can play. If you want to experience tennis in community and competition, then this is something for you.
We are holding a scouting event on 19 October 2024 from 13:30 to 17h.
If you would like to play in a team for TC Novartis, then register for our scouting event at this link https://tcnovartis.ch/scouting_interclub
Bring your tennis equipment to take advantage of the opportunity to play tennis with new partners. You will receive more details about the Interclub and our teams on 19 October. You can also send any questions to info@tcnovartis.ch
All members from Junior 14+ to Senior 70+ who enjoy tennis, want to socialise and grow as a player are invited. Strictly speaking, anyone can join. There is no minimum or maximum requirement profile, but it is more fun if you have left the ‘beginner status’ behind you and have perhaps already played for 1-2 years and maybe even taken a coaching lesson or two.

Tip Tip Tip
Young people in training benefit from the children's rate
Young people who are still in education are listed as children in our system until their 25th birthday. If this applies to your child, please let us know by mid-November at the latest so that we can take this into account in the annual invoice.
